- When a loved on dies, we often feel powerless, as if
life has
gone out of control, and we no longer have direction in our own
lives. Past life regression gives hypnosis control over those
feelings of alienation. Modern regression methods not only
assist many to review their own past lives, but often allow
contact with loved ones still in the interlife period, the time
between death and rebirth. Many people begin to investigate past
lives due to our anxiety about death. However, regression shows
the interlife to offer a state of infinte acceptance and love.
Through the experience they develop new spiritual resources,
discover their purpose for living and gain confidence in their
own value. They now know that they are not alone.
-
-
- Methods of past life regression are fairly simple, within
the
ability of many hypnotists. However, to gain control over life
and death sufficiently to heal ancient wounds and repair karma
requires specialized training. Ultra-brief hypnosis training
gives too litle information to know how much remains to be
learned. This intially is masked by excess confidence, but soon
leads to a sense of uncertainty, lack of confidence in skills,
insecurity with clients, anxiety that someone will discover them
incompetent, and a secret dread of catastrophic failure. Those
who wish for more meaningful career direction take enough time
to fully learn their art. Students quickly develop confidence
in
their own excellence, and know that they merit the respect and
envy of their peers. We all feel decisive and secure when we
understand what to do, how to do it, and why it is done because
we have selected a good training program. Some students seek
past life therapy skills to gain spiritual power which can be
applied in other aspects of the healing arts. Other realize that
the insight developed in well coordinated training programs pays
off in technical superiority and personal enrichment, as well
as
the gratitude of clients. To insure that these goals are met,
the International Board for Regression Therapy has established
basic guidelines defining the skill level and breadth of
knowledge required of an IBRT certified past life therapists.
Board certification is the mark of the true professional.
-
-
- One value of Board certification in past life therapy
is to
reassure your clients. Certification is proof of excellence.
Unfortunately, there are very few opportunities to collect
entire range of required knowledge in a single coordinated
course. For example, in California, MBS HypnoClinic of San Jose
is presently the only organization advertising a specific IBRT
oriented training sequence. Thus, the potential therapist is
often required to take various courses from various different
institutions in order to become competent. This is further
complicated by the fact that many trainings in hypnosis and past
life therapy are inadequate. Often they mislead the student into
thinking that the single paradigm or technique taught has
covered the field. Competent courses teach several paradigms
and
methods. For example, in addition to multiple hypnosis methods,
MBS includes three courses in applied theory as well as two
courses devoted exclusively to regression therapy techniques.
Another shortcoming of short trainings is lack of casework
assistance. Casework is where we polish our skills. MBS offers
graduates over 200 hours of free case supervision. We hope that
free casework will become a norm for the field.

- The process of a past life regression involves quieting
the mind
so that faint memory traces of the past can be located. These
traces are maintained by the fact that inner changes of the
persona reflect events sensed in the outer world. Thus, the
nature of the persona is a map of its past history. The skills
of the past life therapist focus the client's awareness on these
traces, and through non-directive suggestions, to tease out
their nature. Events of past lives are just as likely to shape
the present as recent events. However, the process is more
subtle. For example, a woman with fear of water was regressed
to
the time that the fear began. She might have told of a childhood
event in the present life, requiiring present life regression
therapy. Instead, she found herself on ship. She told of leaving
her cabin while feeling despondent. "Now I'm walking to
the
railing. I'm climbing over it. I'm jumping into the water. I've
drowned.". She was amazed to discover that death was a pleasant
escape from the problems of life. However, to avoid repeating
that form of escape, she decided to fear water. Therapy was
directed at her self confidence and problem solving allowing
her
to discard her fear of water as no longer needed. The breadth
of
techniques required for this work is why IBRT certification is
important when looking for a past life therapist. You will also
want IBRT certified instructors when selecting past life
training.

- Death in a cold, damp prison cell is often slow and painful.
For
those who have also undergone torture at the hands of the
Inquisition, or sadistic feudal lords, it may also lead to
insanity. The result is often a combination of worthlessness,
fear of self expression, and hopelessness. There may be residual
pains of past stabbings, or from broken limbs. Because the
causes are no longer visible, medicine cannot help, and the
usual procedure is to administer psychiatric drugs to numb the
mind. Regression to the lifetimes associated with the feelings
of physical pain, loss of personal identity and fear allows
therapy to be directed to the problem. Discomfort is then
replaced by understanding and fulfillment as clients take charge
of their lives. The horror of their past is transformed through
self discovery, and what once seemed to be stumbling blocks is
transformed into stepping stones as life again has a purpose.
Imagine the joy of a therapist who has not only saved a past
life, but possibly the present one as well.
-
-
- Although their methods treat issues which are otherwise
sealed
by death, past life therapists rarely strut or put on airs.
Learning to cheat death is a process of discovery which so
changes students that they lose the insecurity which prompts
others to boast. For example, in your own training you will
recall the universal love and acceptance of the interlife, as
well as the successful and unsuccessful lives which you have
led. This perspective spans levels of reality, seeing clearly
that which many regard as impenetrable mystery, and few
non-therapists could even understand it. It is sufficient for
most past life therapists to be members of the elite family of
transcendental trancers, to enjoy lively discussions of death,
and to love their work. As one past life therapist expressed
it,
"This is the most fun I can have with my trousers on."
