Revealing The Essence of Austin Power's Shag-errific Mojo.

Austin Powers, the flash frozen, paisley wearing, '60s fashion
photographer and undercover superspy has got it. Mojo, that secret
essence that makes a man irresistible to women. Women want to have him
and men want to be him.

Well, let's face it, Silicon Valley men may have smarts and money, but
there is a serious deficit of Mojo around here. That is where San Jose
Hypnotist, David Barron, comes in. "I don't teach seduction, that's
someone else's field."* Says Barron "What I do is get men over their fear
of meeting women and over the belief that they have to look for mates and
dates like they're applying for a job. In a job interview you are
constantly trying to put your best face on and hope they will like it.

That is completely the wrong way to go." Barron says it starts by having
men realizing that they are a commodity whose value is apparent. "One way
to get this is to realize that you don't have to settle on a woman whose
foibles you can overlook." To explain further, Barron takes a more
cynical attitude to dating "Women make up one half the population, it's a
target rich environment so be choosy. I see men put way too much energy
into wooing one woman hoping to get her to feel for them what they want.
It's much easier to say "Next!" and move on. If you don't, you risk
becoming a stalker. If you're picky you will find one you like. If you're
not you will only get what you settle for."

What's this have to do with Austin Powers Mojo?

"Though Austin Powers is a fictional comic character he has that attitude
that talking to women is fun and easy. He also doesn't care if he's
rejected. That's his real Mojo." Says Barron. "I have to explain to guys
that women are attracted to men who feel so secure in themselves that

women can feel secure around them. Once they get it the world opens up to
them." Barron does this through a combination of hypnosis and
Neuro-Linguistic Programming. "Most of what I do is find existing
resources a guy has and transfer that over to the area of meeting women.
It's usually pretty simple then I require that they go out and field-test
it." Barron explains that this is now a method that is used amongst those
who practice NLP.

The founders of NLP, Dr. Richard Bandler and Dr. John Grinder, created
the concept of modeling, taking on the qualities and characteristics of
someone skilled and duplicating it. When asked if Austin Powers is a good
model for Silicon Valley engineer types Barron smiles "I wouldn't model
his characteristics too thoroughly. Paisley is passe'. Maybe Sean Connery
would probably be a better example. But the point is that meeting women
is not just fun but easy."
